PURPLE K!SS (Hangul: 퍼플키스; Japanese: パープルキス; also stylized as PURPLE KISS) is a six-member girl group under RBW. They debuted on March 15, 2021 with their first mini album INTO VIOLET.
History
2018–2020: Pre-debut
In March 2018, RBW created a YouTube channel called 365 Practice to highlight their female trainees before it morphed into promoting their upcoming girl group, using the channel's name.
The project has saw many changes to its lineup of trainees. The trainees Kim Young Seo, Kim Sung Eun, Jung Do Hae, Mo Mo and Seo Ji Heun had left the agency and the project after terminating their contracts.
Lee Ye Sol appeared on promotional pictures with the other members but left right before the reveal of the group name. On July 20, 2020, the group released their first debut trailer with the lineup and their official group name, PURPLE K!SS.[1] From July 20 to August 1, the seven members of the group were revealed, starting with Ireh[2], followed by Swan[3], Yuki[4], Na Go Eun[5], Chaein[6], Park Ji Eun[7], and Dosie respectively[8].
On November 18th, 2020 they announced on their SNS they will release their 1st pre-release pre-debut single on November 26th, 2020 with a digital single titled "My Heart Skip a Beat"[9].
2021 - Debut with INTO VIOLET, first comeback with HIDE & SEEK
On March 15, 2021, PURPLE K!SS debuted with their mini album INTO VIOLET.
On August 23, PURPLE K!SS announced on their SNS that they would release their second mini album titled HIDE & SEEK on September 8, 2021, along with a logo motion teaser[10]. Later that day, the group's first concept photo was released.[11]
2022 - MemeM, Geekyland, departure of Jieun
On March 8, the group's Twitter posted a logo motion video for their third mini album, MemeM, which was released on March 29.[12]
On July 7, the group's Twitter posted a logo motion video for their fourth mini album, Geekyland, which was released on July 25.[13]
On November 13, RBW released a statement through the group's fan cafe revealing that Jieun would be leaving PURPLE K!SS due to poor physical conditions and symptoms of anxiety. The group will continue promoting as six with no additional members.[14]
2023 - Cabin Fever, Japanese debut with Dear Violet, "Festa"
On January 31, PURPLE KISS posted a logo motion video on their SNS for their fifth mini album, Cabin Fever, which was released on February 15.[15]
On February 17, the group's Japanese Twitter announced that they would be making their Japanese debut on March 22 with the mini album Dear Violet.[16]
On August 11, Star News reported that PURPLE KISS are in the final preparations for their comeback in September.[17] RBW later confirmed the report.[18] On August 17, PURPLE KISS posted a logo motion video on their SNS for their first single album, "Festa", on September 5.[19][20]
2024: BXX
On February 28, it was reported that the group will comeback with their sixth mini album in March.[21] On March 4, the group released a logo motion video for BXX, set for release on March 19.[22]
